I'm sitting in a room because of Covid 19.

In April 2020, Yanik Miossec et Jérôme Noetinger invited 20 artists, among the twenty countries most affected by the SARS-CoV-2 Coronavirus in terms of number of contaminations as of March 31, 2020, to participate in an interpretation of Alvin Lucier's composition, I'm sitting in a room.

The principle is simple. It is described in the text itself.

I'm sitting in a room different from the one you are in now because of confinement.
I'm recording the sound of my speaking voice which will then be played in other rooms again and again until all its characteristics, except perhaps the rhythm, are destroyed.
What you will then hear will be the natural resonant frequencies of this transfer through different rooms, modulated by speech.
For Alvin Lucier, this activity should be considered not so much as a demonstration of a physical fact, but more as a way to smooth out any irregularities in speech.
For us, it's a means of contaminating speech without risking Covid-19.

Everyone will have to translate this text into their language of confinement.
Everyone will have to read and record this text once in their confined living space and send it to the next one in the list.
Everyone will progressively receive a sound file with the recorded playback of another participant and will have to play and record it, and then send it.
So each person's initial recording was played and re-recorded in the other 19 rooms by the other 19 participants.

The entire process was completed in December 2020.

En avril 2020, Yanik Miossec et Jérôme Noetinger ont invité vingt artistes, parmi les vingt pays les plus touchés par le Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 en nombre de contamination au 31 mars 2020, à participer à une interprétation d'une adaptation de la composition d'Alvin Lucier, I'm sitting in a room.

Le principe de la pièce est simple. Il est décrit dans le texte lui-même.

Je suis assis.e dans une pièce différente de celle dans laquelle vous êtes actuellement pour cause de confinement.
J'enregistre le son de ma voix qui va ensuite être diffusé dans d'autres pièces encore et encore jusqu'à ce que toutes ses caractéristiques, à l'exception peut-être du rythme, soient détruites.
Ce que vous entendrez alors seront les fréquences naturelles résonnantes de ce transfert à travers différentes pièces, modulées par la parole.
Pour Alvin Lucier, cette activité doit être considérée non pas tant comme une démonstration d'un phénomène physique, mais plutôt comme un moyen de filtrer les irrégularités que pourrait présenter l’élocution.
Pour nous, c'est un moyen de contamination de la parole sans risquer le Covid-19.

Chacun.e devra traduire ce texte dans sa langue de confinement.
Chacun.e devra lire et enregistrer ce texte dans son espace de vie confinée, et le faire suivre au suivant de la liste
Chacun.e recevra un fichier d'un autre participant.e et devra le diffuser et l'enregistrer dans son espace de vie confinée avant de le faire suivre au suivant.
Donc chaque enregistrement initial de chaque personne a été diffusé et réenregistré dans les 19 autres pièces par les 19 autres participant·es.

Le processus complet s'est terminé en décembre 2020.
